A point on the map is where you can receive orders. ![]() You can customize your desired character according to your taste and enter the game. However, the main and exciting part of Totally Reliable Delivery Service is the online section, where you play with real players and compete for one thing on a map. Each successful postal worker who delivers more goods to the specified points faster than others earns points for themselves. ![]() In Totally Reliable Delivery Service, when you start the game, you compete with other players (who are controlled by AI in offline mode) to quickly receive and deliver goods to the designated point. This has caused you to have many competitors in this profession, and it has made receiving and sending a package a special challenge and a competitive job. In fact, it can be said that the residents of the city where you are present are all engaged in receiving and sending goods. You are a postman alongside several similar people who are also doing the same job. In this game, as the name suggests, everything is related to delivery services. However, Totally Reliable Delivery Service has an interesting story and very cute content. The designs and graphics of this game have a lot in common with the popular game Human: Fall Flat, and it can be said that Totally Reliable Delivery Service has been inspired by Human: Fall Flat and its gameplay has been designed to be similar to this game. Totally Reliable Delivery Service is designed with so-called Ragdoll designs, and its characters are like animated dolls that do not have full control over their movements. The important fact to remember here is Skul can carry two skulls at any time. It’s insane and I love it and I want to find them all. The developers at the small indie studio, SouthPAW Games, have said Skul can swap out with another skull and create up to 70 new playable characters. This detachable feature means he can also swap it out when something better comes along. He can also throw his skull as a long-range attack and then teleport wherever his skull ends up. ![]() Combined, these moves make for a fast-paced game with plenty of mayhem. Skul has a number of basic skills available: jump, double jump, dash, and hit. Each battle scene even has a little mini-map, indicating the enemies as red blocks and your doorway out as green blocks. You’re going to be seeing a lot of this room. The game doesn’t really start until you are in the throne room of the Demon King’s castle, gaining advice from a shapeshifting witch-cat-lady. ![]() The first chapter is your initial introduction. It was also fun to see how they reacted to playing as “the bad guy” who wasn’t really a bad guy. It has been a huge hit with all three of our kids taking turns to share the gameplay and learn from each other. Best of all, the game is suitable for the kids being fast, entertaining, and not overwhelming with battle scenes. The controls were smooth and responsive, the graphics were easy to see on both big screen and handheld. I reviewed Skul: The Hero Slayer on the Nintendo Switch, and it was a joy to play. But there is something really annoying about this “Hero Mob” and Skul is ready to do the right thing. Skul is the last survivor of an attack on the Demon King’s castle, and, in all honesty, he doesn’t really seem like the kind of guy to seek revenge. ![]() To be fair, the skeletons just want to be left alone. They have convinced the world how evil the demons are. The humans appear to have a better marketing campaign. But then we meet Skul, a skeleton reanimated and asked to join the battle to save the Demon King and push back the human invasion. We don’t see the death (it’s sad but definitely not gory or anything like that). It begins with a young boy who died at the hand of another. The story focuses on Skul, our short in stature but big in bravery main character. It’s easy to point out its similarities with Hollow Knight and Hades, however, Skul has added its own finesse on many of the fight scenes, giving it a fresh touch that is enjoyable to play. Skul is a 2D action-platformer with rogue-lite features and a unique skill mechanic. Well, players, I’m telling you that little skull is exactly what we need on Day 24 of our Halloween Game reviews. But what if the bad guys aren’t really the bad guys? What if… now, stay with me… What if the humans really are a bunch of jerks? Especially the so-called heroes, with their fame and glory and fantastic hair? What if the true hero is someone small? With no fame or glory? And definitely no fantastic hair-it’s just a bald swappable skull. We’re pretty close to Halloween, and I have to admit, all of these games have given me a bit of an appetite for playing the bad guys. ![]() The series has always been a very heavy multiplayer game, but with each new addition in the latest entries, a number of measures have been added to help enhance the single player experience. Most of the new Monsters you'll be hunting in Sunbreak will appear on these maps, but don't forget to take a moment to appreciate how breathtakingly beautiful these maps really are. From a breath-taking waterfall that produces a rainbow, to some mysterious ruins hidden deep underground, the Jungle has plenty to see, and it's worth taking the time to simply explore the map to see what it has to offer. The Jungle is a redesign of an already beloved map, and the translation into the new world games only improves upon it. Even though these three may not mesh well on paper, the game manages to blend the three environments together perfectly, that it feels completely natural. The Citadel has three different "sections" a ruined castle, an icy tundra, and a muddy swamp. To go with these new Monster designs, two new maps are added to the game, a brand new one called the Citadel, and a reimagined map from the second generation titles, the Jungle. Instead of introducing more Monsters based on Japanese Yokai, Monsters that western folk are more familiar with, such as Frankenstein, Dracula, and Werewolves become the main focus - and they're brilliant! Whilst Monster Hunter Rise focused on a more traditional Japanese vibe, Sunbreak flips that on it's head and presents the game with a more western look. ![]() The additions in the Sunbreak DLC only add to this addiction and further streamline the gameplay to make it more enjoyable. It has an addictive gameplay loop, and once it clicks with you, you'll damn well struggle to put the game down. Monster Hunter is a game where you hunt Monsters. NB: This review was written before the release of the first title update. Fortunately, the initial release of Monster Hunter Rise helped bridge the gap between Japan and the west, so it's finally time to gush about the series (albeit late), to try expand the series into new horizons. Monster Hunter didn't receive a tonne of popularity in the west until World released on the PS4 back in 2018. Unfortunately, Monster Hunter has always been seen as a niche series, and isn't as popular in the Animal Crossing fandom such as more mainlines franchises, including Pokemon and Zelda. If you've followed us for a while, you should be aware that Monster Hunter is a series that gets sporadic coverage on our site. ![]() The early desexing of large breed (breeds which at full grown adult weight are greater than 20kg) bitches can be related to hormonal incontinence – such that we recommend waiting closer to 9 months before desexing these animals.įor our feline friends, most are desexed at 6 months with no complications. ![]() The risk for mammary tumor development is approximately 0.5% for bitches speyed prior to their first estrus, 8% for those speyed after their first estrus and 26% for those speyed after two or more cycles. For each heat that a bitch experiences, the risk of developing mammary tumours increases. There is no evidence to suggest that this is necessary – and this is essentially what we are trying to prevent as the estrogen and progesterone levels contribute to the incidence of mammary tumours. The two ovaries are located and removed, along with the entire uterine body.Ī commonly asked question is whether desexed animals require hormone supplementation. However, no clinical significance to this difference in size has been found.įor female dogs, the procedure – a full ovariohysterectomy, is more involved. The removal of hormonal influences on the growth plates of the long bones results in delayed closure, resulting in bones that are actually a little longer. In contrast to intact dogs, pups spayed or neutered at 7 weeks of age and male pups neutered at 7 months of age had greater final radius and ulna lengths. Two of three testicular cancers are malignant and are often aggressive in nature – spreading rapidly to other abdominal organs quickly.Īnother concern is that an animal will have stunted growth following prepubertal gonadectomy has been refuted by multiple studies. ![]() In males, the incidence of prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement) and neoplasia (tumours), as well as testicular cancer increases with each year that they go without being neutered. Recovery is relatively quick and within24 hours they are usually bright and happy again – raring to go. There is literature to suggest that desexing during the puppy stage, there is an increased risk of cruciate ligament disease (especially in bitches), but by the same comparisons there are numerous factors which account for partial and full rupture of the ligament.įor male dogs, the procedure is much quicker – the testicles are removed through a pre-scrotal incision and subcutaneous sutures and skin sutures are placed. If these teeth are not removed at desexing, and do not fall out on their own accord, there is a risk of overcrowding within the jaw, causing prehension difficulties when eating. If any deciduous teeth are retained (in particular the canine teeth in puppies), we will give you the option of having these removed whilst they are anaesthetized. By this stage, most animals will have their full set of adult teeth and most, if not all, deciduous teeth have fallen out. Our recommendation at VetHQ is desexing at 6 months of age. We also use physical signs to determine the depth of the anaesthetic to ensure they are kept at a stable state. By increasing the ways we monitor animals under anaesthetic, we are decreasing the chance of complications.Īt Vet HQ we routinely use a capnograph (which monitors the carbon dioxide output and the volume of expelled air), ECG (electrocardiogram – which monitors the electrical output of the heart), blood pressure monitor and pulse oximetry (which reads the oxygen saturation of the hemoglobin). With all anaesthetics, there is a risk of complication, and therefore – smaller animals have a higher risk of complication, especially as they have difficulty retaining warmth during procedures.Īs anaesthetic knowledge and the pharmaceuticals we use have changed over the years, safer products have been found and more methods have been used to monitor anaesthetic depth and safety. Shelters and rehoming facilities in Sydney often desex kittens and puppies at an earlier age than what we would generally recommend in general practice as the earlier they are neutered, the earlier they can be rehomed. Often owners have questions regarding the implications of desexing, what it involves in terms of the procedure and also post-operative care, and the potential risks. When is the perfect time to desex my pet?ĭesexing has become a routine procedure in veterinary practice and is recommended to all pet owners to be performed at the age of 6 months (or thereabouts). ![]() Taking the actual photos of the sun is not too different from lunar or planetary imaging – you need the shortest (ideal) exposures possible for the best chance of capturing a sharp frame, and you need a lot of them. This is in part what makes solar astrophotography the oft-forgotten middle-child of photographing the “night sky ” while almost anyone with a camera can attempt to capture some stars (something even modern cell phones can accomplish with long-exposure camera apps), solar imaging can require the photographer to pursue expensive and specialized equipment before even attempting to take a photo. These dedicated solar telescopes can easily reach several thousand dollars for smaller models in fact, many higher-end models rival the entire cost of my deep sky imaging setup – and as they are only useful for observing one object, it is not an expense I have so far pursued (but it is something I would like to further explore in the future). Ca-K filters show large-scale surface features often associated with magnetic activity. The Calcium-K line, shown in purple in the image above, displays a slightly cooler region using a wavelength near enough to UV that many people are unable to use these filters visually, instead relying on cameras to pick up the details missed by our limited organic eyes. These specialized optics can show the “sexier” details on the sun such as prominences and filaments of ionized hydrogen which form the chromosphere (an area above the photosphere). Probably the most popular wavelength used by dedicated solar telescopes is Hydrogen-Alpha, which centers on a deep-red wavelength of 656nm. While white light filters reduce the sun to a grainy white-ish ball, narrowband solar telescopes reveal the sun to be a seething furnace of nuclear fire. We all know the sun is bright, but what can you see on the sun? Solar filters, depending on the specific nature of the filter and wavelength they target, can capture various layers of the sun’s atmosphere and “surface” (as much as a plasma ball can have a surface).ĭedicated solar telescopes allow observation and photography of more interesting aspects of the sun. Using proper filters, then, is of upmost importance – each time I set up for solar observing, I am attentive and mindful on applying the filter before the telescope is pointed anywhere upwards, and the filter is always checked for pinholes before and after every use. If I pointed my telescope at the sun and looked into the eyepiece, I would be immediately blinded in that eye faster than my brain could compel me to look away. ![]() Most people understand you shouldn’t stare at the sun, and this is especially true when using a telescope. In the mid-2020’s the Sun will likely have more frequent sunspots of even larger sizes than this one, but for now I will take what I can get.Ī Brief Overview of Solar AstrophotographyĪstronomy is a fairly benign pursuit as far as danger and injury is concerned – except for some fairly persistent sleep deprivation, the worst we may ever deal with is frostbitten fingers on a cold night stargazing outdoors, but solar observing is a different game altogether. The sun is currently in what we call a Solar Minimum, meaning sunspot activity is near the low of an 11 year-long cycle. Sunspots of sizeable proportions are currently rare. The smallest of these are around 1500km wide and they sometimes only last several minutes before disappearing. The uneven background mottling is called granulation – each granule is a region of hot plasma rising or cooler plasma descending (which makes the edges of each granule). ![]() This sunspot also featured a small line (which was ~800km wide) across its center – this appeared for about 2 days, indicating the sunspot may have been in the process of splitting, before the line disappeared. Some smaller spots can be seen around AR2738 and likely many more than what I could capture - sunspots can be a small as 16km wide, but these are invisible next to AR2738’s impressive ~50,000km diameter. They appear darker because, due to magnetic activity, they are cooler than the rest of the sun’s surface – while most of the sun’s surface is a scorching 5600C, sunspots can be a much more pleasant 3500C. Sunspots are regions of intense magnetic activity on the sun and can change in size and shape over the course of several hours. This sunspot was about 3-4 times the diameter of Earth, at least at the time I captured it. ![]() It's all so strange and wonderful that it's almost impossible not to want to see more.
